About Me

My name is Suzy, and I am a grainiac!

Suzy (the Grainiac)

I am crazy about whole grains, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, fresh herbs, healthy living and good books. Yes, I am a book addict.

My goal is to share what I have learned over the last 20 years on the road to healthier living with my family, my friends and anyone who wants to take control of their health and what they eat.

I am currently working on getting a family herbalist certification from Vintage Remedies as well as becoming a Natural Living Educator.

Healthy habits start here!

Hi Suzy! I recently met your husband Geoff at a meeting. Geoff talked a lot about all the efforts you make to keep your family healthy and I was so impressed. I recently purchased Nourishing Traditions book and am hooked! I am making as many changes as I can to start eating only non GMO foods, all natural grain feed meat, etc. I really want to try the kombucha drink this week–sounds very interesting! Any tips you have to offer in addition to what is here would be great! Thanks and I am sure I will be in touch again!

Hi Kasey! Glad to hear from you! Geoff told me you guys had a great discussion at lunch. I’m very blessed to have a husband who is on board with all the healthly eating…a lot of husbands are not willing to make the changes. Nourishing Traditions is my all time favorite cookbook. It can be a little overwhelming at first but I love it. I read through the first part with a highlighter in hand and marked up the whole book! I skip the raw meat sections…that is NOT my thing! lol My favorite easy recipe we use over and over from NT is the Breakfast Porridge.

We homeschool and are finishing up the school year this month. I hope to have a lot more time to post info on here as soon as we wrap up. Please feel free to ask any questions you have in the meantime!

      Have a great day!!

    Hey, Suzy!
I see you are using wordpress. I am trying to figure out the .org wordpress. It is a challenge for this old brain.

I love your blog. I am interested in healthy food. I have made great progress converting Freddy considering where he began, but we have a ways to go.

My mom cooked healthy food a long time before it was in vogue. She never fried because she said it messed up her kitchen. We had salads long before the world was having salads. I am blessed to have that upbringing.

I believe God intended that we be healthy and provided the good food to do just that. My, have we gotten off track.

Keep up the good work. Your blog is great and giving people lots of needed information.

    Cuz Carole

Hey, Carole! Geoff set everything up for me on wordpress…it overwelmed me! lol I agree that God provided us with what we need to be healthy and have been trying to get rid of all processed foods. I’ve also been making a lot of herbal remedies for our family that have worked amazingly well!! I need to post some of the herbal recipes on here. Actually, I have a lot of posting and catching up to do on here!! I better get busy before the summer is over! Great hearing from you…keep in touch!
